MANAMA: Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard (Asry) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with ONEX Shipyards Greece under which the two will collaborate on sharing knowledge and experience in maritime repair, technology, optimization, modernization and explore future business opportunities.
The signing of the MoU by Mazen Matar, CEO and Board Member of Asry, and Panos Xenokostas, Chairman and CEO of ONEX Group, took place virtually in the presence of Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis , who was then visiting ONEX Shipyards. .
Mr. Mitsotakis expressed his gratitude to Asry for taking the decision to engage with one of the historic Greek shipyards, which reflected Bahrain’s advanced capabilities.
Commenting, Mr. Matar said, “We look forward to the positive results of this MoU, which opens a new horizon for the development of Asry’s business internationally.
He added: “For decades, Asry has been working with and providing its services to major Greek shipowners. The signing of this Memorandum of Understanding only strengthens these relations and takes them to broader dimensions, not only for the repair and maintenance of Greek ships, but to establish partnerships with Greek shipyards.
For his part, Mr. Xenokostas said he was delighted to sign the Memorandum of Understanding with Asry and said, “We are very pleased to be associated with the first maritime and industrial optimization project in the Persian Gulf. Together, we can implement best practices and exchange valuable know-how for the benefit of our common clientele. Our alliance will leverage our competitiveness to approach the global market, so we look forward to start unfolding all this great potential of our cooperation as soon as possible. »
